The AWCA maintains and extensive library of information and reference material.
These may be accessed by members to help them work on projects
Alberta Wildlife Carving Association has a wide variety of books, magazines, casts and reference pictures and patterns for your carving needs.
All items are marked with a catalogue number to enable the librarians to keep items catalogued and filed in the proper place. We encourage you to browse the catalogue for your information or ask for assistance if needed. Items may be checked out in two week increments. Please inform the librarian if you wish to keep materials over the summer since we account for everything in the spring and would like to know that nothing has gone missing.
Please remember, when looking at reference material , to put it back in the same spot so others are able to find it. When you remove an item from the files, please place a marker stick (paint stick) so it is easier to return the item to its proper location. This is especially needed for Wildlife Carving and Competition Magazines.
Casts are kept in baskets and are listed in numerical order. They are easy to replace. The listing of books and study bills are listed on a sheet on the inside of the door.
When borrowing an item, please complete the form with your name, date, item number and a description of the item. When returning the item, please inform the Librarian so it can be recorded as returned.
These reference books, both hard and soft cover provide a wide range of reference and how to instructions to help you create your carvings.
This reference material is typically 11 x 17 coil bound instruction books.
Wildfowl Carving Magazines are published four times a year and
contain a wealth of information including detailed carving and painting instructions
The Wildfowl Carving Magazine Competition Magazine is published annually and contain photos of award willing carvings from carving shows and competitions across North America. This is a great source of inspiration.
